Haha, so bear with me, Internettes.

I’m so glad to get to interact with people, who look at my drawings! Getting to banter, and get feedback, it’s such a reward to socialise about these ideas, since it keeps me alone to draw them. 

I wanted to tell a story about my meditation, cus its been so neat, and I havn’t got enough of a chance to share. Also, everybody been blogging about lizard brains, and how can I not tell you about my experiences, when I feel like I know a little bit?

Many of my friends, who have to listen to me, think the whole thing is hogwash, and I quite invite being thought of as silly. Even if you don’t believe my interpretation of what happens during my practice, just believe that this is my perception, and it makes me happy!

I’m doing more sketching lately, on the blank pages in between work projects. I’ve found the only way to trick myself into having fun drawing a convenience store is to let myself also draw whatever I else wanted. What came out today was a dark meditation of my pain! How Gothic~!  This is a journal type sketch of all my worst physical injuries, minus a few broken bones and concussions, with a scoop of embellishment.

And while drawing some parts still frightened me in a familiar way, I also found it soothing. Because I have healed. And I remember how resilient a body can be.

And then I had a dreamy photo laying around, so I turned it into an impression of falling in love. Not that I would know.

And here is a pic I took because I was being very silly, and started a fan page on facebook. Yup. That’s my pug. Dunno about the brassiere. I think it fell from heaven because of some kind of Egyptian curse. Join, if you like that sort of crap.

In honor of this momentous day,  here’s a secret illustration that depicts Greg, the giant kangaroo God of absurdism comedy. He’s supposed to be pretty cool.

This is the new big deal, a comic strip that will soon have its own website, animations, and if you love it enough and clap your hands, life! The whole comic is plotted out as a contained story, and every strip has a punchline that we find knee slapping. I formally invite you to open your hearts, minds, and chuckle pusses, wide for:

This is Harrumph!, the new comic from Portland creatives Riley Michael Parker and Carolyn Main. These first comics introduce the two main characters - Poppycock the robot and Boulderdash the cactus - as well as our dark and wordy sense of humor. But these are only a taste of things to come. We have an entire year worth of comics written and storyboarded, with multiple story arcs and strong character development, not only for Poppycock and Boulderdash, but for all of our side characters as well, like Sugarplum and Ruby Goldmine, and a handful of others who have yet to be introduced.

Both Riley Michael Parker and Carolyn Main have strong and growing fanbases in Portland Oregon and beyond - Riley for his fiction writing, and Carolyn for her work as an illustrator and animator -  and though few have seen Harrumph! there is already a lot of buzz about it from those who have. BzzBzz Bzzzz.

Despite interest, we have opted not to release this beginning thread of comics to the public, because our goal is to have the characters grow with the widest audience possible, and we hope that you will support this comic by giving us a spot in your paper. We feel very strongly that publishing in the weekly alternative papers around the country will be the most effective way to serialize such character based absurdism to a large and unwittingly eager audience. There has been a gaping hole in the alternative comics pages since the retirement of Nicholas Gurewitch and his magnificent strip The Perry Bible Fellowship, and the public has been waiting for a comic such as Harrumph! to come along and take its place.

But don’t just take our word for it. Take your time and read through the comics, and read what other people have already been saying, and then get back to us. We look forward to hearing from you.
