Once in a while I have to draw some Batmen. I know not why, exactly. My friends on the Promise Keepers set talk in “Bat Voice” a lot, and say dirty things. I think this is where these come from.
And then, I think, this happens….

I have a Facebook fan page, and Twitter, and i’m embarrassed by how much fun I’ve been having blathering on and uploading sketches. It took only two seconds of soul searching to find out why this is so rewarding for me: I am full of ridiculous things with no direct outlet.
Haha, so bear with me, Internettes.

I’m so glad to get to interact with people, who look at my drawings! Getting to banter, and get feedback, it’s such a reward to socialise about these ideas, since it keeps me alone to draw them. I wanted to tell a story about my meditation, cus its been so neat, and I havn’t got enough of a chance to share. Also, everybody been blogging about lizard brains, and how can I not tell you about my experiences, when I feel like I know a little bit? Many of my friends, who have to listen to me, think the whole thing is hogwash, and I quite invite being thought of as silly. Even if you don’t believe my interpretation of what happens during my practice, just believe that this is my perception, and it makes me happy!

The Adventures of Poppycock and Boulderdash.
This is the new big deal, a comic strip that will soon have its own website, animations, and if you love it enough and clap your hands, life! The whole comic is plotted out as a contained story, and every strip has a punchline that we find knee slapping. I formally invite you to open your hearts, minds, and chuckle pusses, wide for:
Harrumph! The Adventures of Poppycock and Boulderdash
Words, Primarily : Riley Michael Parker
Pictures, Primarily : Carolyn Main
Click on any comic to make bigger. There is some detail there!
And! We have 15 strips. Ready to go. We are looking to find a print home in every alt weekly worth it’s salt. And we will have a webcomic presence, it is in the works. Please help me welcome Poppycock and Boulderdash into the world, hurrah.
“Boulderdash is a cock. Poppycock is a prick. Plants and robots are nearer to each other on the moral spectrum than most people would like to think. “ ~ Nicholas Gurewitch
“Carolyn Main combines the sexy with the toxic, and the offensive with the adorable in a brand new, compelling way. And the comic she’s doing with Riley Michael Parker is good too.” ~ Scott Allie

I was thinking, there may be room in the world for cute little one offs about dating and technology, from a cute vixen-y stand point. Not that I know anything about that….Here are some attempts….
Think this is going somewhere?

This is a terrible cartoon.
I drew it directly in the style of one of my favorites.
Can you guess it? The real ones are better than this.

So! In other news, Dark Horse is a asking me to make a comic for their Myspace Presents! How fortunate, that I am so very practiced with “presenting” I’ve been a working on it, and it’s gonna be real neat. I’m going all out to show yall what I’m really capable of, and, they asked it to be SFW, so, I went really kid mythological with it. I wrote it with Noah Emmet during our snow storm, and yesterday, figured out how to draw a lion, as opposed to my practiced loin. Without giving too much away, here’s your teaser.
A concept sketch! With concept coloring. So, now you kinda know the story. The whole thing, all 8 pages of it, will be online in a month-ish!

This one goes out to my Alma Mater, of both toddler and wild teen years, Franklin High. And All us fighting Quakers. Holla!
I remember, when I was in Pre-School there, they gave us chillins these Ben Franklin bobble head dolls. And I stared at that thing a long time after I pulled his Bi-focals off. Because Benjamin Franklin was wiered looking.

For those of you who remember my March last year, yes. It is that very same Leprechaun. Looks like his moves at the bar paid off.
I have a feeling we have not seen the last of this young love.

Oh wait. It was a basketball game. Don’t worry, I was more fun when we all went out later.

You mat notice less grammerical errors on this one. Thanks, vigilant interwebs!
You’d think I’d know how to spell things like”ejaculate” and “semen” by now. You’d be wrong. When I google them, I lose my train of thought!

A new, nice lil gag oriented toon for y’all. May it help you digest your various foods. It’s a scroll down, because at 3 panels it didnt’ make sense to “clickie” it.
And there you go. Now, I can say I’ve drawn prom fucking. I’m putting it on my resume.
Speaking of which, I am perversely proud to have my very own internet creeper! After we’ve put up our Dresden Codak trailer, every body was soooo enamored from pretty boy Harris Porter! Yes, I know he has luminescent teeths. But, may I remind you, I am a female on the internetz!!! One who from time to time, doesnt pay for her own drinks at bars, mind you. So, I got a comment finally, it only took 100 youtube comments before they mentioned me.
“Pointless wankery re: the right to existence of the comic and/or its author aside, I would totally bang the blonde chick until I passed out then do it again.”
(it was me in a wig, omgz!!!)
So, huzzuh. Everybody please take a moment to speculate exactly how long a fat naked dude in front of his computer CAN fuck before he passes out. The winning bidder gets a cookie.

Hi! Fun reading this week! Come on out and see some culture, you mug! As part of Wordstock, we are having a live reading and art showing. Here’s our nice post card I jobbed up. Look at all the lil guys on the phone. It’s pretty easy to tell who drew what, if you are familiar with ze Artists.
As Wordstock says
“In their first partnership ever, Wordstock & Stumptown Comics Fest present a Graphic Novel First Thursday. Featuring both original comic book art & the literary masterpieces of Portland graphic novelists, this event is certain to entertain both your eyes and ears.
If you’re new to the genre or a fanboy, you’ll meet the artists that are behind the explosion of Portland comics. See and hear from the likes of Carolyn Main, Jamie Rich & Joelle Jones, Graham Annable, Eisner winner Shannon Wheeler, and debut novelist Jesse Reklaw.
Join us First Thursday, November 6 at Fuzzy Glamour Gallery, 625 NW Everett St. #111 in Portland. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., readings begin at 6:45 p.m., and admission is free!

So. I’ve mentioned I’m in cahoots with Aaron Diaz. He just finished his comic!!! He wont let me buy him a drink, cus he’s a mean drunk. So instead, we have been meeting along with Harris Porter, Totally Daryl, and Adam Healy. We are… doing this secret thing… To Be Announced THIS WEEK!
Here’s a slice of life, from the times we share. Yes Folks, Its a Clickie. As always, use your mouse or arrow keys to click ahead.

So, Jesse and I are rounding home base on this bad boy. And I’ve got to get cooking, I’m doing the “coloring” and man. Here’s page 3, du du done!
Did you notice the Codak cameo? It is because he is such a looker, and not that we are in ca-hoots. Which, we also are, incidentally.

Oh man, I am so proud of this. I was gifted a beautiful clicker mechanism. It will make reading these longer quickies a joy. More than one panel? The comic is now called a “Clicky” as, you shall have to click through it. you can use your mouse to click ahead, or your arrow keys to click behind.
I er, don’t know what to do with you iphones…. you don’t like flash.
And this comic? has been in the back of my mind for YEARs, and it took way too many panels to get the emotions out. Remember me by this, if I don’t come out with anything longer before I die an untimely death.
This, is possibly, some of the best dick I’ve drawn.

So, I’ve been invited to be in the up coming Bridge Anthology, by Matt Leunig. I have been working with the talented Jesse Baggs, via E-correspondence. It’s coming along! Like, almost done. The comic making especially picks up when we answer each other’s emails. Since my computing friends recently bestowed upon me some tech support and an external hard drive, I’ve had a chance to get some work done. Here is the “pencils” of page 2. A sneak peek, for you, dear readers.
The process has been a very interesting collaboration. I’ve pretty much written for the lady, and Jesse for the dude, for the first few panels, till Jesse and I developed a bit of a rapport.. Then, we both would take turns furthering the story.
SO, um, this comic is about a guy making eyes at a lady at a comics convention. They have this awkward con flirtation. Something I know nothing ABOUT! She is not me, please do not waste my time with that foolish error of judgment. Obviously, I’ve never had braids.
Acting!
Oh, and PS. Do you look at this site? If you are reading this, odds are, you do. Comment on something! You don’t even have to be clever. It will just make me feel less like I’m blogging to myself.
